Burning moxa on needles
Acupuncture
is a treatment method by insertion of very fine, sterilized needles into predefined energetic points in the body to rectify imbalances that occur within. Over 1,000 energetic points were identified in the human body throughout the long history and development of acupuncture. The selection of acupuncture points for treatment depends on the individual diagnosis and can be on the head, face, ears, trunk, arms/legs, and extremities.
Does it hurt?
This is the most commonly asked question about acupuncture. Whether or not a person feels an uncomfortable sensation is highly variable from person to person. Our body's energy shifts from cycle to cycle, day to day, and through different times of the circadian cycle. The natural fluctuations of our biorhythm determine how we respond to the stimuli and at what level of sensitivity. However, the fear of needles must not deter one from having the amazing experience with acupuncture. Most patients quickly acclimate to the needle sensations after several treatments through a growing somatic and mental understanding of the workings and effects of acupuncture in the body.
Acupuncture is highly safe and effective. At our clinic, only sterilized and disposable needles are used. Each needle is never used for more than one insertion. The standard average time for a treatment is 30 minutes. Acupuncture is usually not a one-time cure. It is necessary for patients to commit to a series of treatments in order to maximize the healing potential of acupuncture.
