COMMUNITY ACUPUNCTURE
1st Wednesday & 3rd Thursday of Every Month
Community acupuncture is a style of acupuncture treatment administered to multiple people at the same time in a group. Acupuncture will be given to the points on the head, ears, or limbs. The treatment is administered in a comfortable setting where the participants experience healing in a shared space and among people with similar concerns. This group energy and support can be very beneficial to effect healing.
Community acupuncture is not a replacement for the traditional whole body treatment in a private session. However, it is an efficient and effective acupuncture application to address acute and chronic stress, pain, emotional imbalances, energy and immune system support, addiction recovery, and many other health conditions. The effects of acupuncture are cumulative. The more treatments you get, the more benefits and more effective the results.
We offer community acupuncture twice every month beginning January 2012 and on donation basis only. For anyone who cannot pay our regular acupuncture fee, the community style treatment is an affordable and viable alternative. There is no limit to participation. You can come for treatment whenever you need or as many times as you want.

We have made it easy and simple for you to participate in community acupuncture, here's how:
- No appointment necessary.
- Wear loose clothes especially loose pants, shorts, or skirt for easy access to the lower limbs for needling.
- You can walk in at any time between the designated hours, sign in, take a seat and get ready to receive treatment. Treatment time is generally 30 minutes after the needles are in.
- When your treatment is finished, you may quietly exit the room and deposit your donation into the box on the way out.
- Come back again for treatment as often as you want.

What is the difference between regular acupuncture treatment and community acupuncture?
- Acupuncture (regular treatment) is the traditional whole body treatment given in a private session for an individual patient. This type of treatment is most ideal as the entire session is tailored for the patient including an in-depth examination and interview, needle treatment is more comprehensive, and adjunct therapies and the dispensation of herbs are incorporated if necessary. The treatment takes place in a private room with the patient lying on the table and this enhances the comfort and relaxation for the patient. We always recommend the regular acupuncture for you can get the most out of the treatment and it can address a wider range of health conditions.
- Community acupuncture is a treatment style administered to multiple people at the same time in a group setting. Patients will sit in chairs during the treatment. Only the needles are used and the areas of the body to be needled are limited to head, neck, ears, and limbs. Adjunct therapies such as cupping, moxa, massage etc. are not incorporated. Herbs will not be dispensed for community acupuncture. The exchange or talking between patient and acupuncturist is very minimal as a whole group has to be addressed at the same time. There will be no in-depth examination of the patient. Attention given to an individual patient is also minimal. The benefits of community acupuncture are mainly its affordability and convenience. The drawbacks are a lack of depth of treatment and a lack of privacy for the patient. Nonetheless, community style acupuncture is still an effective healing method at a very low cost.
